Being thankful or grateful for something is to express gratitude.
This isn't an easy concept for most people because we, as humans, can find it hard to recognize the deep value of something - no matter how insignificant.
When you feel grateful, you are feeling an emotion, while being thankful is simply an act. To have gratitude is to feel grateful for something, and thus, it emotionally impacts you.

30 Days of Gratitude

If you are one of those people who often struggle to have gratitude or you don't feel as though you are grateful enough, try 30 Days of Gratitudefor a change.

It's never too late to start feeling gratitude, and this challenge can help you get there. Doing it is simple, but sticking with it can be difficult.

The way you want to express gratitude for each of the days is entirely up to you, but it might look something like this:
  • Day 1: tell someone you love them or appreciate them
  • Day 2: hold the door for a stranger
  • Day 3: write quotes about gratitude
  • Day 4: complement a stranger or someone random
  • Day 5: call a friend
You can repeat some of the actions on other days, too. It can be an unusually interesting experience for most, and it's really worth trying it out if you seek to be more grateful!

You might be wondering, "what is the point of having gratitude?" or perhaps your first thought is, "I have better things to do."

The beautiful thing about gratitude is discovering how it helps you personally. It can be different for each individual - perhaps it will help you become a better communicator or public speaker. Maybe it will teach you to appreciate the smallest things in life.

If you don't know where to start, try the 30-day gratitude challenge, or you can start by simply writing down something you are most grateful for and why. Your dog, partner, family...

Writing it down will help you to see why it is so important and to, therefore, feel more appreciative of it.
You can also find gratitude rituals and games that you can incorporate into your life as a way to make it more interesting and worthwhile, such as writing thank you postcards.
